Botox® Cosmetic represents a natural non-surgical way to rejuvenate an aging face.
Dynamic wrinkles are the lines that form from years of smiling, squinting and frowning. Botox® Cosmetic can dramatically reduce dynamic wrinkles and create a more rested and youthful look by relaxing the muscles which create wrinkles and lines. Sometimes headaches which are caused by frequent frowning may be relieved.

They are especially interested in minimizing or eliminating the facial lines and wrinkles that results from age, sun damage, heredity, and lifestyle choices such as smoking. In fact, many patients return to work or other activities immediately following their treatment.

Laser hair removal is a finely tuned sophisticated procedure done with the use of laser. This specific laser is designed to remove the growth center at the base of the hair follicle. The laser emits a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin, to the hair follicle, where it is absorbed. Upon absorption, the laser energy is transformed into heat, which can disable the follicle.

The majority of the body parts are appropriate for the use of this laser. It is essentially a painless procedure, it can be performed in the office and does not require anesthesia. The laser is FDA approved and in general three to five laser treatments 4 weeks apart are required for complete removal of the hair in the region.

Spider Veins, "Sclerotherapy", is a procedure in which a sclerosing solution is injected into a blood vessel with a fine needle. This action causes the lining of blood vessels to swell and shrink thereby eliminating the incompetent veins. After the sclerosing agent has been injected, the vein fades to a point where it is no longer visible.

From 10 - 30 blood vessels can be injected per session. Discomfort is minimal because the needles used are very small.

Rosacea, (rose-AY-sha) is a common skin disease that causes redness and swelling on the face. Often referred to as "adult acne," rosacea may begin as a tendency to flush or blush easily, and progress to persistent redness in the center of the face that may gradually involve the cheeks, forehead, chin, and nose. It also may involve the ears, chest and back. As the disease progresses, small blood vessels and tiny pimples begin to appear on and around the reddened area; however, unlike acne, there are no blackheads.

When it first develops, rosacea may come and go on its own. When the skin doesn't return to its normal color and when other symptoms, such as pimples and enlarged blood vessels, become visible, it's best to seek advice from a dermatologist. The condition rarely reverses itself and may last for years. It can become worse without treatment.

In the interest of protecting your health, learn how to give your skin a "safety check" - a periodic examination from head to toe. You should note the size and location of any moles or growths. If one of these growths begins to change or grow rapidly, have your dermatologist examine it as soon as possible. Early detection and removal offer the best chance of curing skin cancer.

There are three major types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma. Here are some forms these cancers can take:
  • Basal cell carcinomas - are raised, translucent, pearly nodules which may crust, ulcerate, and sometimes bleed. They occur most often on the face and other exposed areas of the body, but can appear in other areas.
  • Squamous cell carcinomas - usually are raised, pink, opaque nodules or patches which frequently ulcerate in the center. They most often appear on exposed areas of the body, but also may appear elsewhere.
  • Malignant melanomas - are usually small brown-black or larger multicolored patches, plaques or nodules with irregular outline. They may crust on the surface or bleed. Many of them may arise in pre-existing moles.

Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical procedure using machine to spray micro crystals on the surface of the skin. As crystals hit the surface of the skin, they remove dead skin cells; a vacuum picks up both the cells and the crystals. The results are controlled by the flow of crystals, pressure or force of the crystals, vacuum strength, and type of crystals used. When used at low settings, it provides an excellent form of dead skin cell exfoliation. More aggressive settings with repeated treatments can produce stimulation of collagen and cell renewal.

Before treatment skin is cleansed, the treatment is performed, and recovery cream as well as sun block is applied. Products for aftercare are recommended it is important to use sun block on a daily basis. There is usually no downtime. Some people experience reddening of the skin, which subsides within a few minutes to a couple of hours. Makeup may be applied immediately if desired. Depending on the individual person's reaction to the procedure, other treatments may be used to increase the benefits.

For maximum benefit, a series of 4-6 treatments is recommended. These treatments should be performed 1-2 weeks apart and then once a month for maintenance.

Instant and long-lasting wrinkle correction.

Q. What is Restylane®?
A. Restylane® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane must be administered by a licensed practitioner.

Q. What is Restylane made of?
A. Restylane is the first and only cosmetic dermal filler made of a crystal-clear gel called NASHA™, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. NASHA is biodegradable and completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

Q. How is Restylane different than other hyaluronic acid-based products?
A. Unlike other hyaluronic acid-based products, such as those made from rooster combs, only Restylane is non-animal derived. This quality virtually eliminates any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reactions.

Q. What should patient do prior to treatment?
A. Restylane requires no pretesting, but patients should take a few precautions before being treated. Patients should avoid using aspirin, or any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, St. Johns's Wort, or high doses of vitamin E supplements prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

Q. Is Restylane safe?
A. Yes. Restylane has been used safely by dermatologists and plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide. Because Restylane is non-animal-based and fully biocompatible, allergy testing is not required. Virtually any risk of animal-based disease transmission is eliminated. The most commonly reported adverse events were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within two to three days.

Q. Can Restylane be used anywhere on the face?
A. Restylane has been used in more than one million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles and to enhance the appearance and fullness of lips. However, it is currently indicated in the U.S. only for the treatment of facial wrinkles and folds.

Q. How long does Restylane last?
A. Studies have shown that the average treatment results last six months, or even longer. The unique NASHA™ technology helps maintain the cosmetic effect until the injected material is nearly gone.

Q. How often should I have Restylane treatments done?
A. Restylane lasts twice as long as collagen, so treatments are typically scheduled twice a year. Evidence shows that having a touch-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated will enhance the lasting effect.

Q. How is Restylane different from Botox?
A. Restylane is a natural, cosmetic filler. In contrast, Botox is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. Many patients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products.

Q. How is Restylane different from bovine collagen?
A. Restylane is proven to deliver a longer-lasting effect than traditional collagen. In addition, bovine collagen is derived from animals (cow) and requires an allergy test. Because Restylane is non-animal-based, virtually any risk of animal-based disease transmission is eliminated, and it can be administered without pretesting. No waiting is required.

Q. Do the injections hurt?
A. Restylane is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple and convenient, and results are practically instantaneous. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, your physician may anesthetize the treatment area.

Q. How much do Restylane treatments cost?
A. Restylane is based on your specific needs, so the cost will vary from patient to patient. In general, the cost of Restylane is comparable to the cost of similar procedures. Because Restylane is longer-lasting, it proves to be very economical over the long term. Please consult your physician to determine the best recommendation for your particular needs.

Q. Who is Medicis Aesthetics?
A. Medicis Aesthetics is a subsidiary of Medicis, a well-established dermatology company dedicated to clear and beautiful skin.
